CuteMove is a keyboard, and keyboards see what you type. That’s why we built it to work entirely on your iPhone. This policy explains, in plain English, what the app can see, what it keeps on your phone, and the very small amount of information we ever receive.

1. Who we are
CuteMove is provided by Opus Novum (“we”, “us”, “our”), based in Australia. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). You can contact us at hello@cutemove.com.
2. The short version
- What you type stays on your iPhone. The keyboard reads the last few words you’ve typed, in memory, to suggest pictures, lines and words. It never saves, logs or sends your typing.
- CuteMove doesn’t connect to the internet. The app, the keyboard and the sticker app contain no code that sends data to us or anyone else. The only network activity is Apple’s own App Store system when you buy or restore a purchase.
- No account, no ads, no analytics, no tracking. There’s nothing to sign up for, there are no third-party SDKs, and we don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
- No access to your photos. The pictures are built into the app. CuteMove never asks for your photo library, camera, microphone, contacts or location.
- Full Access is optional. It’s only used to copy the picture you tap and to share your purchases and favourites between the app and the keyboard. Typing and lines work without it.
- App Store privacy label: Data Not Collected. [Confirm: Check that your App Privacy answers in App Store Connect say “Data Not Collected”.]
- You can delete everything at any time by deleting the app. See Deleting your data.
3. What the keyboard sees when you type
Like every iPhone keyboard, CuteMove receives the keys you press and can see the text just before your cursor in the field you’re typing in. Here’s exactly what it does with that:
- Picture and line suggestions. CuteMove looks at the last few words of your message (up to six) and compares them, on your iPhone, with the keywords of the pictures and lines built into the app.
- Word suggestions, autocorrect and glide typing. These use a word list built into the app. Autocorrect remembers, only until you close the keyboard, any word you un-corrected so it doesn’t correct it again.
- Serious messages. If your message is about something serious, like grief, illness or a breakup, CuteMove shows no suggestions. If it looks like you might be going through something really hard, it offers a chip with the number for Lifeline (13 11 14). Nothing about this is recorded or sent, and inserting the number is your choice.
All of this happens in your iPhone’s memory, while you type. Your text is never written to storage, never logged and never sent anywhere. It’s gone when you close the keyboard.
Password and secure fields: iOS doesn’t let third-party keyboards type into password fields. It switches to Apple’s keyboard automatically. Some apps also choose to block third-party keyboards. CuteMove hides pictures in web address, email, search and number fields.
4. Full Access
When you turn on Allow Full Access for a keyboard, iOS shows a warning that the keyboard could transmit anything you type. iOS shows the same warning for every keyboard, because Full Access lets a keyboard do more. Here’s what CuteMove uses it for, and what it doesn’t:
| With Full Access, CuteMove⦠| CuteMove never⦠|
|---|---|
| copies the picture you tap to the clipboard so you can paste it | sends what you type, or anything else, over the internet |
| reads the purchases, favourites, recents and settings you’ve saved in the CuteMove app (through a shared storage area on your iPhone, called an App Group) | reads your clipboard |
| plays haptic feedback, if you turn it on | stores your typing |
Without Full Access, you can still type, use glide typing and word suggestions, see picture suggestions and insert lines. The keyboard then keeps its own settings, favourites and recents separately, and only shows the free pack. You can turn Full Access off at any time in Settings › General › Keyboard › Keyboards › CuteMove.
5. What’s stored on your iPhone
To work, the app and keyboard keep a small amount of information in their own storage on your iPhone. It never leaves your device through CuteMove, and we can’t see it.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Favourite pictures and lines, and up to 24 recently used pictures (stored as picture IDs only) | So your favourites and Recents tabs work |
| Your settings (suggestions, lines, glide typing, autocorrect, key clicks, haptics, how many suggestions) | To remember your choices |
| What you’ve unlocked, and when an active subscription ends | So the keyboard and stickers show the packs you’ve paid for |
| Setup progress: whether setup is done, whether the keyboard has been used with Full Access, how many pictures you’ve copied, when you first copied one, and how often you’ve dismissed the Full Access card | To guide you through setup and avoid showing tips too often |
| Performance timings and the keyboard’s memory use (numbers only, never text) | So the app’s diagnostics screen can show how fast the keyboard is running [Confirm: whether the release build still records these, or only test builds.] |
None of this includes anything you’ve typed. Like other app data, it may be included in your iPhone’s backups (for example iCloud Backup), which Apple handles under its own privacy policy.
6. Copying pictures and the clipboard
When you tap a picture (with Full Access on), CuteMove puts that picture on your iPhone’s clipboard so you can paste it. Like anything you copy, it stays on the clipboard until you copy something else, and other apps you paste into, or that read the clipboard, can see it. CuteMove never reads your clipboard. The pictures are part of the app, and any location or camera details are removed from them before they’re bundled.
7. Photos, camera and other permissions
CuteMove doesn’t ask for access to your photo library, camera, microphone, contacts, location, health data or notifications. It doesn’t use your advertising identifier. The pictures you send come built into the app.
8. iMessage stickers
The CuteMove sticker app in Messages shows stickers from the packs you’ve unlocked. It can’t read your conversations. Stickers you send are delivered by Apple’s iMessage service, under Apple’s privacy policy.
9. Purchases through Apple
Packs and subscriptions are sold through Apple’s App Store, inside the CuteMove app only (never in the keyboard). Apple handles payment. We don’t receive your name, email address, Apple Account or card details. The app checks what you’ve bought on your iPhone using Apple’s StoreKit system. Apple gives us sales and subscription reports, such as how many people bought a pack in each country, which don’t identify you. Apple’s handling of your purchase is covered by Apple’s privacy policy.
10. Information we do receive
We only receive personal information if you choose to contact us, for example by emailing hello@cutemove.com. Then we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write, including any screenshots you attach. We use it only to reply and help you.
If you share a crash report with us through Apple (for example through TestFlight, or iOS’s “Share with App Developers” setting), Apple sends us de-identified technical details about the crash. You control this in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.
11. This website
This website doesn’t use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. [Confirm: no analytics, ads or tracking plugin is installed on cutemove.com.] Like all websites, our web host automatically records standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time) to keep the site running and secure. WordPress only sets cookies if you log in to manage the site.
12. How we use and share information
We use the information you send us only to answer your question, fix problems you report and keep records of support requests. We don’t sell, rent or trade personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
We share it only with the service providers who help us run CuteMove, such as our email and web hosting providers, and only as needed for that purpose. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
13. Overseas storage
Our email and web hosting providers may store information on servers outside Australia. [Confirm: Name your email and web hosting providers and the countries where they store data.] When that happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure the information is handled in a way that’s consistent with the APPs.
14. Security and retention
Because CuteMove keeps your app data on your iPhone, it’s protected by your device’s own security, such as your passcode and Face ID. We keep support emails only as long as we need them to help you and for our records, and then delete them.
15. Deleting your data
We don’t hold any data about you from the app, so there’s no account to delete. To delete everything CuteMove has stored on your iPhone, delete the app: press and hold the CuteMove icon, tap Remove App, then Delete App. This removes the keyboard and sticker app too. To ask us to delete your support emails, contact hello@cutemove.com. There’s more detail on the Delete your data page.
16. Children
CuteMove is made for adults and isn’t directed at children. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you think a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it. [Confirm: Match this to the App Store age rating you set in App Store Connect.]
17. Your rights and complaints
You can ask for access to, or correction of, any personal information we hold about you by contacting hello@cutemove.com. We’ll respond within 30 days. If you have a privacy complaint, contact us first and we’ll try to resolve it. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
18. Changes to this policy
If we change how CuteMove handles information, for example if we ever add a feature that needs the internet, we’ll update this policy and the effective date above before the change goes live, and we’ll update our App Store privacy details to match.
